ABOUT
Each of us deserves to live a meaningful and fulfilling life – and everyone can live one.
I am an empathetic, understanding, empowering psychologist. I believe that the most important tool in therapy is connection. Only by establishing a warm, empathetic and human relationship is it possible to create the conditions for the success of therapy. I also prioritize client empowerment – we often set boundaries for ourselves that actually exist only in our heads.
Working together
I strive to create an environment where everyone can feel safe, accepted, understood and heard. There is great value when a therapeutic relationship is based on the authentic involvement of two people.
At the same time, I believe that the client himself is the best connoisseur and expert of his own life, so I hope that he will introduce me to himself as best as possible. I am also very happy when the client sincerely wants and tries to make him feel better – I believe that the words spoken together, the goal set, the knowledge and understanding acquired can only work when they become real actions outside the door of the therapist’s office.
The first session is usually dedicated to getting to know each other, clarifying the main problems and setting a goal that we will pursue together during further sessions. In subsequent sessions, we usually delve deeper into the problem, explore the emotional background, reasons, (un)tested solutions, create an action plan and discuss what results this can bring.
The end of therapy can sometimes be anxiety-provoking, because there is a fear that the changes achieved will not last without the therapist, and the problem will recur or new ones will appear. However, at the end of a successful therapy, the client gains a set of knowledge and skills, so the natural next step should be to apply all this to their own life. This is client empowerment.
Most often, we determine the duration of therapy by mutual agreement – it can be 4, 5, 6, or even 20 sessions. It is recommended to attend sessions once a week to maintain continuity and to be able to observe and track changes in life. However, in some cases, sessions held every two weeks may be more favorable.
Why therapy?
People often worry that seeking professional help is a sign of weakness. Also, especially if it is the first time, there is a fear of the unknown – in this case, the fear is especially strengthened by the imagination, which tends to come up with unexpected scenarios. However, I would like to view seeking psychological help as a safe experiment, after which the worst that can happen is that you will no longer want to go to the second meeting. And it is very difficult to set a ceiling for the best results.
NATURE OF WORK
