ABOUT
“I don’t fix children, but I can help them feel better” – Violet Oaklander
My name is Lina. I am a child and adolescent psychologist. I am understanding and know how to find an approach to each child. I constantly improve my qualifications by participating in trainings, seminars and conferences.
During therapy, I strive to create an immediate therapeutic atmosphere in which the child, teenager and other family members can feel safe. I work eclectically and select therapeutic techniques according to the individual characteristics of the client, the nature of the problems and therapeutic goals. During therapy, we talk, draw, play therapeutic games, sometimes homework is assigned to the child, parents or the whole family.
Working together
During the first session, we meet with the parents and discuss the challenges the family is facing. Parents tell us about their child, their strengths and difficulties, and discuss therapeutic goals. In subsequent meetings, I work individually with the child or adolescent.
We meet with the parents at a pre-agreed frequency to discuss changes or new challenges that have arisen, and the family is given recommendations on how to proceed. Regular meetings are the most important. Once a week is best, but once every two weeks is also possible. Therapy lasts individually. Some difficulties may require a few meetings to resolve, while others require therapy that continues for many months. It takes time for changes to occur and become permanent.
I expect openness, sincerity and responsibility from the client, for example, to notify in advance about absences or delays, to complete assigned tasks, and to follow recommendations.
Why therapy?
After therapy, clients feel calmer, more confident and self-assured, having acquired the “tools” to independently solve emerging difficulties. Self-esteem is strengthened, attitude towards oneself and relationships with others improve.
NATURE OF WORK
I work with each client individually. There are also joint meetings with parents or family.
My mission is to help a child feel better, better understand themselves and their feelings, and maintain good relationships with others. I provide parents with recommendations and support in facing the challenges of parenthood.
