ABOUT

The path will be walked by the one who walks.

Hello! I am Jurga Raudienė, a licensed medical psychologist. In my professional path, I am guided by respect, tolerance, and I try to find creative solutions. Clients would describe me as empathetic, open, and unafraid of complex, “sharp” topics. I believe that we grow internally at any age. Therefore, my mission and role as a psychologist is to help the client grow, to encourage them to follow their own unique path.

Working together

When communicating with clients, I create an environment in which they feel safe, accepted, able to freely explore themselves and talk about their experiences without fear. For therapy to work, cooperation and openness are important, as is the courage to try new things, and a commitment not to run away from a stressful situation.

Psychological counseling can be both short-term and long-term – it depends on the client’s situation and needs. 2-3 meetings will be enough for professional counseling, but a depressed teenager may need six months or a year of systematic work. In case of more serious difficulties, it is recommended to meet with a specialist once a week.

Usually, during the first session, I try to collect as much general information as possible about the client’s situation, difficulties, and expectations. I talk to relatives who accompanied the child/teenager, which helps to see how different family members understand the problem.

During subsequent meetings, in order for the work to go faster and smoother, “homework” is sometimes assigned by mutual agreement. When working with school-age children, separate meetings are also held with their parents or guardians.

Why therapy?

At the beginning of therapy, it is often scary to appear weak, “abnormal”, to speak openly with a stranger, to dare to trust their ability to keep a secret. I would like to encourage my future client and wish them to look at the decision to seek help a little differently, to remember that the determination to change is not a sign of weakness, but of inner courage and maturity.

Psychological counseling helps to look at yourself and others more positively, to learn to open up when communicating with others, to reduce emotional tension, to endure stressful situations more easily, and to weaken their negative impact on the body.

TYPE OF WORK

I provide individual counseling to school-age children, adolescents, and adults experiencing emotional difficulties – fears, anxiety, sadness, somatic symptoms resulting from stress, interpersonal problems, and low self-esteem. I help them assess possible psychological causes of learning difficulties, identify talents, and make decisions about academic subjects or future professions.

I base my work on the principles of integrative therapy. I choose the methods used in counseling based on the client’s age, personality traits, nature of the difficulties, and expectations, so the communication method and techniques may be different: both regular conversation and therapeutic games, elements of art therapy or bibliotherapy, writing tasks, and teaching relaxation techniques. Integrating different methods allows us to better meet the client’s needs and find the most comfortable way for him/her to open up.

I am interested in the influence of talents on personality and its adaptation, the links between personality traits and career choice, new psychological diagnostic options, and methods of helping children and adults with anxiety disorders.

EXPERIENCE

In 2000, I graduated from Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and in 2002, a master’s degree in health psychology.

I have been gaining work experience since 2002. I worked as a psychologist at Kaunas district Garliava J. Lukša Gymnasium, Kaunas district Linksmakalnis school-kindergarten, Kaunas “Kardiolita” clinic Mental Health Center.
