ABOUT

Hello, I am Goda Tikniūtė, a licensed psychiatrist-psychotherapist, also with a theological-philosophical and communication sciences education. The most important values ​​for me in my work are continuous learning, interest in a person’s inner world and building a connection with others. Therefore, I am sincerely happy when patients respond to me as warm, compassionate and competent.

A person who wants to visit a mental health specialist often has fears, they are very individual. For those who find it difficult to trust and turn to a specialist in a situation that poses mental health challenges, I want to remind them: the true courage from which change begins is not to be afraid, but to dare.

TYPE OF WORK

I specialize in adult therapy. I can help with anxiety, mood, adaptation disorders, crises, trauma, and various addictions. As a psychotherapist, I invite those who want to know themselves more deeply, who are experiencing internal conflict, or simply experiencing life difficulties, who do not necessarily have mental disorders, to meet.

In my practice, I combine the achievements of biological psychiatry and general medicine with psychotherapy: cognitive behavioral therapy, schema therapy, as well as logotherapy and existential therapy. Philosophical, theological, and communication knowledge acquired while studying theology, philosophy, and communication sciences at Vytautas Magnus University helps me see a person from various angles as a whole and look for new paths to his or her inner world.

My personal area of ​​professional interest is the connection between various fields of knowledge: medicine, philosophy, psychology, and various psychotherapeutic perspectives and ideas. It is especially important that everything that arises from the interaction of these areas can be used to help each unique person with their individual needs.

EXPERIENCE

In 1999, I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Catholic Theology at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU),

In 2000, I completed a Master’s degree in Public Communication there. In 2014, I obtained the qualification of a medical doctor at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU).

Since 2014, I have been specializing in the field of psychiatry, and in 2020, I obtained the qualification of a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) psychotherapist at LSMU.

In 2023, I completed the individual schema therapy training program approved by the International Schema Therapy Association.

From 2021 to the present, I have been studying at the Institute of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis.

I worked as a psychiatrist at the Psychiatric Clinic of the LSMUL Kaunas Clinics,

Inpatient Department of the Šilainiai Branch of the Kaunas City Polyclinic,

In the Aleksotas Sector III Mixed Pathology Department of the Psychiatric Clinic of the LSMU Kaunas Hospital,

Head of the Kaunas Inpatient Addiction Diseases Department of the Republican Center for Addiction Diseases.

I still work as the Head of the Abstinence Treatment Department at the Panevėžys Branch of the RPLC.
