ABOUT

Believe that you can, and you are already halfway there. (Teodoras Ruzveltas)

Hello! I am med. m. dr. Aida Kunigėlienė, licensed psychiatrist.

In my professional career, I have been constantly interested in psychiatry as a science, deepening my knowledge in the fields of psychotherapy and psychopharmacotherapy. In clinical practice, I look at any mental health problems in a comprehensive way, assessing both the client’s mental health and external factors that may affect their well-being. I am motivated by communication with people and the desire to help them. Clients describe me as patient, tolerant, and curious.

Why therapy?

A person who wants to visit a psychiatrist often does not know whether they will be able to convey their experiences, feels anxious about how the doctor will react to the problems expressed, is afraid of being misunderstood. I would like to encourage my future client and wish them to strive to find out the reasons that prevent them from enjoying life, everyday life, and feeling calm. In the case of a mental disorder and taking medication, I would recommend that they clarify with a specialist the duration of the prescribed treatment, dosages of medications, (side) effects, etc.

NATURE OF WORK

I consult adults. I can help with anxiety, personality, organic, psychotic spectrum, postpartum mental disorders, and depression. I consult individuals who have experienced psychological and physical violence in the family, who have gone through the pain of divorce, and who have had problems communicating with narcissistic personalities.

In my work, I combine psychopharmacotherapy (treatment with medication), positive, rational psychotherapy.

I try to find out the reasons for the deterioration of the client’s mental health and prescribe optimal treatment.

EXPERIENCE

In 2006, I completed my residency in psychiatry at Kaunas Medical University (KMU).

In 2014, I completed my doctoral studies in psychiatry at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), where I defended my dissertation “Peculiarities and nature of suicide attempts in patients who survived suicide attempts and were treated in a psychiatric hospital, their connections with mental disorders and socio-demographic characteristics”.

I worked at the Psychiatric Clinic of Kaunas Hospital, psychiatric hospitals in Denmark.

I am also a lecturer at the Psychiatric Clinic of LSMU.

I work as a psychiatrist at the Psychiatric Clinic of LSMU Kaunas Hospital, Subacute Mental Disorders Department.

I regularly participate in various scientific conferences and read reports, deepening my knowledge in the fields of psychiatry and psychotherapy. I am the supervisor of research projects for students and resident doctors, and the co-author of many scientific articles.

I encourage you to start an internal change, I invite you to book a consultation time. Let’s get in touch.
