ABOUT
“But you need to have light with you, from yourself, to shine in the darkness for everyone standing on the road, so that when they see, they themselves find light within themselves and follow their own path, so that they do not stand in the darkness” – M.K. Čiurlionis
I am Evelina, an open, empathetic, flexible psychologist, whom my clients also describe as energetic and witty.
Working together
When working with a client, I try to create a safety-based environment so that the patient dares to open up. Later, we create a therapeutic environment and atmosphere together with the client – the one that they most want or need at that time.
I expect openness, trust and cooperation from the client.
The first consultation is very important for both the client and the psychologist. During it, we get to know each other, discuss the rules, and while the client is telling me, I try to delve deeper and understand the client’s problems, clarify existing expectations. Meanwhile, the client assesses how safe he feels in the therapeutic relationship, decides how appropriate and acceptable my therapeutic methods are.
In subsequent consultations, the work becomes more intense, delving into the patient’s difficulties and problems in more detail, which can cause unpleasant feelings. Sometimes I give homework or assignments (by agreement) in order to include more insights into the therapeutic process.
It is most often recommended to visit once a week. However, each case is very individual, so the frequency and duration of consultations are adjusted taking into account the nature of the difficulties experienced by each client and the circumstances.
At the end of the therapeutic process, clients often feel ambivalent feelings, but this is a completely normal reaction to experiencing separation.
Why therapy?
A person who wants help faces many fears and insecurities. Most of all, I want to wish them not to be afraid to dare to take the first step, and later we will travel together. My goal is to promote change – to help a person empower themselves to decide, choose and change in the desired direction.
NATURE OF WORK
Individual consultations
I try to approach each client without prejudice, therefore, techniques and methods are selected based on the specific client’s problems. Most often, I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) methodologies in counseling. However, I am constantly improving my qualifications and accumulating knowledge in various psychotherapeutic approaches, therefore, if necessary, we also combine different therapeutic elements.
