Psychiatric Consultation

Romuva Clinic psychiatrists help with a wide range of nervous system and mental health conditions. All of our psychiatrists have completed postgraduate training in either individual psychodynamic psychotherapy or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

The treatment process requires the help of family members or other relatives

A psychiatrist:

  • assesses your concerns and symptoms;
  • reviews your personal history;
  • evaluates and diagnoses mental and behavioral disorders;
  • recommends the most appropriate treatment approach or a combination of approaches;
  • if needed, recommends psychological assessment, a psychologist consultation, or psychodynamic psychotherapy or CBT.

Support from family members or other close persons can be an important part of care. When appropriate, our psychiatrists can also meet with family members or caregivers.

A psychiatric consultation may be helpful if you are experiencing:

  • mood, anxiety, or sleep problems;
  • psychosomatic symptoms;
  • adjustment difficulties or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD);
  • psychotic disorders;
  • organic mental disorders;
  • personality disorders;
  • eating disorders;
  • alcohol or other substance use disorders;
  • mental health concerns in older adults.
